My Surprise Christmas Trip to Walt Disney World

One of my favorite gifts I received this Christmas was a surprise trip to Walt Disney World. No, it wasn’t an actual trip down Main Street USA, but it was a wonderful trip down Memory Lane.

A few weeks ago I asked my Mom to see if she could find any old pictures from my childhood trip to Walt Disney World. She said she would try, and at that point I forgot all about it. So imagine my surprise when I reached inside my Christmas stocking and found an envelope full of these old pictures! It was such a sweet and thoughtful gift, and the whole family enjoyed looking at the pictures. (And it’s CRAZY how much my daughter looks like me… Like scary crazy!)

Gosh, this looks so much like Lainey Kate! Even got the hand on the hip going on here!

To the best of our memory we visited the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT during the summer of 1985 when I was seven years old. I wish that I remembered more about that trip. We stayed right off property, and I can remember just crashing into that hotel bed each night, exhausted from a full day of fun. I remember that Cinderella Castle seemed HUGE, and I really thought that Cinderella lived there. I remember the parade in the Magic Kingdom and meeting the Dream Finder and Figment in EPCOT.

With my Mom and brother. Yep, it looks a little different but I know exactly where this little walkway is.

Check out how the shape of Mickey’s ears have evolved over the years.

Remember this view from Dumbo the Flying Elephant?

Waiting for the parade. And honestly, my Dad hasn’t aged a bit in the past 30 years.

Ummmm, seriously, looks just like Lainey Kate!

Although my true Disney obsession didn’t begin until I first took my own son to Walt Disney World in 2009, I can still remember the great times and wonderful memories that were made with my family way back then.

Do YOU remember your first trip to Walt Disney World? I’d love to hear about it! Or, if you have not yet visited Walt Disney World I’d love to help you plan the perfect trip!

Wishing you a Happy New Year filled with wonderful memories with the special people in your life!

Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust,

Katie
